Is there free parking near Newquay Airport? Even though Lanherne Avenue and Carlohhas Close are near Newquay Airport and do offer free unrestricted parking, we do not recommend using them as, although cheaper, the inconvenience of accessing the airport from these roads is greater than paying for pre-booked long-stay parking.

Free Campervan Parking in Newquay, Cornwell, UK

I’m sorry to say that I drove all around Newquay for hours looking for places where you can park a campervan, motorhome or RV for free and without hassle, but Newquay had me beat.

Later on, I found out online why this was from the campy website:

In Cornwall, the popularity of the destination coupled with a history of irresponsible camping means that bylaws against overnight stays are often strictly enforced. This is for safety reasons too – clifftops, for example, could become unstable in bad weather and become a dangerous environment for a parked motorhome – as well as the need to protect the crops of local farms.

Any drive around Cornwall, particularly to popular coastal areas, will yield plenty of “No overnight camping signs” in public places, particularly car parks. The good news is that wild camping is perfectly possible in certain parts of Cornwall… as long as it’s done responsibly.

Best areas for free camping in Cornwall

  • Porthleven
  • Penzance
  • Lizard Peninsula
  • Tintagel
  • North coast: Portreath, Porthtowan, St Agnes

However, none of these are official overnight spots, so should be treated with caution. We prefer to use “almost free” sites like those listed below. Whichever you go for, always remember to ask permission before parking overnight!

Free Disabled Parking in Newquay, Cornwell, UK

Rules for parking on the street

If you display your blue badge correctly and your vehicle isn’t causing an obstruction, you can park in or on:

  • Limited parking areas – for an unlimited time
  • Yellow lines – for 3 hours or less
  • Resident parking zones – for 3 hours or less
  • Disabled bays – for an unlimited time unless roadside signs show time limits

Blue badge holders can’t park in:

  • An area where there is a loading restriction
  • An area specifically reserved for other vehicles or purposes. Such as taxi ranks, reserved spaces in car parks, bus stops or loading bays

Blue Badge Holders Must pay the Normal Parking Fee Unless

The vehicle is registered under Cornwall Council’s exemption scheme, or the vehicle is especially
adapted for a disabled person. You must display a valid blue badge with the clock showing when
you arrived, whether you have to pay for parking or not. If you don’t correctly display your badge
and clock, you may receive a penalty charge notice.

Blue badge holders paying a parking fee automatically get one extra hour of free parking. For
example, if you correctly display a blue badge and pay for 2 hours, you can park for 3 hours. This
additional hour will not apply to our Pay & Display car parks. You can park up to the maximum stay
shown on the signs in the car park.

If no disabled spaces are available, you can park in a normal space as long as it’s not marked for other uses, such as reserved parking or loading areas.
